Security Snapshot
A structured cybersecurity assessment for UK small businesses, combining external evidence, a focused questionnaire and professional human review.
What the assessment is intended to cover
The Security Snapshot is designed to go beyond what an external scanner can observe. The planned assessment combines three sources of evidence:
- An external CyberCheck of the primary business domain.
- A short structured questionnaire covering practical controls such as access, MFA, updates, backups, devices, email and incident readiness.
- Professional human review to validate priorities, identify uncertainty and produce a proportionate customer-facing report.
What customers will receive
- An executive summary written for a small-business audience.
- Priority findings that deserve attention first.
- Important findings and good-practice improvements.
- Items that could not be verified and may need follow-up with an IT provider.
- A practical list of recommended next actions.
- A record of the external checks performed and the assessment limitations.
What it is not
The Security Snapshot is not intended to be a formal penetration test, incident-response engagement, compliance certification or guarantee that systems are free from vulnerabilities. Deeper testing or specialist work may be recommended where the evidence justifies it.
No passwords required
The planned assessment will not ask customers to submit passwords, MFA or recovery codes, private keys, API secrets, payment-card details or database credentials.
Built for small-business decisions
The aim is to provide enough evidence and professional judgement to help a business decide what to fix, verify or investigate next — without turning a focused assessment into an enterprise security programme.
